I saw them again the other night and with half of the members short and with sound problems, they were still incredible. Amazing band! They managed to create such an awesome atmosphere, the crowd cheered for them non-stop. They played more then two hours, a three-songs encore, played Metallica bits during the song breaks just for fun, Fiffy lit Claudio’s cigar with a torch then tried to spit fire and burned a bit of his beard in the process (just a bit, nothing serious), Asis loved the crowd and “played” with us all the time… and Su… my God, Su!
That woman is unbelievable! She has an amazing voice that she can use in amazing ways (gosh, how high she goes and how fast and complicated parts she sings) and she is such a sweetheart and so entertaining and full of life and energy. She was constantly smiling, waving, headbanging, dancing, singing other people’s parts, sticking her tongue out, interacting with the other members… she was the attraction of the concert. Great, great band when it comes to live performances. And of course, the music is just gorgeous. It was hot, crowded and smokey, but I would sit there in awe and… you know, be awed! They rock!!!
The girl from the piano actually cried when Asis presented her and the crowd burst into long cheers (she was one of the most cheered). She seemed very nervous, I think it was one of her first concerts and the piano parts are pretty important and complicated, I suppose that didn’t help much. Also, since their flute player was stuck in Italy because of the ash cloud, the guy from the cello brought a Romanian girl as a last minute replacement. Needless to say we were very excited when they introduced her.
And as we were queueing, Asis passed by us (unbelievably, nobody noticed him, but me; and yes, I’m sure it was him :P), I smiled at him and he smiled back. That was sweet. And before that, Fiffy was standing in the middle of the road (luckily there were no cars at that time) and taking pictures and again no one reacted to it. Made me wonder if those people knew who they were seeing. At least they knew the lyrics well enough to loudly sing along…
